Grading Policies, Calendar on Board Agenda Ponca City Board of Education
Members of the Ponca City Board of Education will review uniform grading policies and the 2017-18 school calendar as part of the agenda at Monday night’s meeting.
Building assessment reviews presentations will be given by Carla Fry, principal at Trout Elementary School and Tim Williams, principals at Woodlands Elementary School.
The superintendent’s report presented by Dr. David Pennington will address current legislation.
There will be consideration of and vote to approve or not approve district financial reports. Brenda Storie will answer questions.
The board will then consider and take action on a resolution determining the maturities of and setting a date, time and place for the sale of the $6,375,000 general obligation building bonds of the school district.
There will be consideration of and vote to approve or not approve the following items:
• Revision to Board Policy 4.4 Uniform Grading Policy for grades pre-kindergarten through fifth. For several years now the elementary grade levels have been reporting progress to parents using a standard based report card where students are not given averaged grades, instead they are given a ranking of mastery for each reportable standard. The ranks are: 1, 2, 3 or 4. Because this is the grading scale the district uses and because this grading scale is reflected in PowerSchool, it should be reflected in board policy 4.4 Uniform Grading Policy. Teri Vogele will answer questions.
