Ottumwa school registration goes digital

OTTUMWA — Signing up for the 2017-18 school year will look different for Ottumwa schools. The district is in the process of transitioning to an electronic registration process.

According to a statement from the district, part of this process involves helping every parent create an account in “PowerSchool,” the Ottumwa student information system. One advantage of this system, say school officials, is increased communication between school and home. That will be done through alerts sent to email and phones. This spring, the district will assist parents in becoming more comfortable with PowerSchool.
