School’s just around the corner: Less than two weeks before Interior K-12 classes start back up
Fairbanks Daily News-Miner editorial:
Kids, you may not want to read this, but it’s true: The start of the 2017-18 school year is just over a week away for public schools.
But while children enjoy the last days of summer vacation or perhaps bemoan its all-too-soon passing, teachers and others in the school system are reporting to work ahead of students to get ready.
Parents, don’t let the start of school catch you unprepared. There are some things you need to do, especially if you have a child entering school for the first time.
When does school start? The first day for most students in the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District is Thursday, Aug. 17. It’s a bit different for the high schools, where Aug. 17 is the first day only for freshmen and new students. Sophomores, juniors and seniors start Friday, Aug. 18.
